Phidel Joe Larrusea, 97, of Arock, Oregon passed away on Friday April 21, 2023 of natural causes.

On September 29, 1925, Phidel entered this world with the assistance of Dr. W. W. Jones in the Jordan Valley Hotel. He was the eighth child born to Sebastian (Frank) Larrusea and Florentina Urresti Larrusea.  He was raised on the family ranch which his parents homesteaded.

Phidel married Penny Povey in Elko, Nevada on December 27, 1974. They owned and operated the family ranch with their three daughters. Phidel took pride in his cattle and horses, and enjoyed life on the ranch with his family to the fullest.

Preceding him in death were his parents and siblings: Eugenio, Bonafacio, Julio, Inez, Beatrice, Begonia, and Elbeda.

Surviving family members include: wife, Penny, daughters, Inez Larrusea (Josh), Florentina Larrusea, Katie (Caleb) Showalter. Grandchildren: Cole and Jade Wainman, Alana and Luke Showalter, Mia, Selena, and Liam Badiola.

Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 28, 2023 at 11:00 am, at the Jordan Valley Lion’s Hall, Jordan Valley, Oregon. Graveside and dinner/pot luck will follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Basque Cultural Center in Boise, Idaho or Txoko Ona in Homedale, Idaho in Phidel’s name.
