Jean passed away at his Reno home on January 20, 2018. Born in Hellette, France to Michael Oyhamburu and Marie Albaratz. Jean came to the U.S. as a sheepherder in the 50's, becoming a U. S. citizen on August 2, 1959. He worked for the Washoe County School District until retirement.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Jessie who passed in August of 2016. They had been married since Dec 6, 1960. He leaves behind a daughter, Theresa Oyhamburu and his sister Jeanne Bonboudiac of France, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in France.

A private service will be held at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery on Friday, January 26. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Basque Club, Mendiko Euskaldun Cluba, P.O. Box 2168, Gardnerville, NV 89410.
