Jane R. Mack-Goicoechea, 77, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away on March 6, 2025, after a long and courageous battle.

Janie was born on April 6, 1947, to Harrison and Lillian Mefford in Lewiston, Idaho. After graduating from South Salem High School in 1965, Janie went on to study psychology at Cal State Fullerton. After graduation, Janie enjoyed a fulfilling career in psychology, where she made a significant impact by helping many clients over the years.

With their marriage on July 10, 1989, Janie not only shared her life with Isidro Goicoechea, but also united two families as one. Together, they embraced their “yours and mine” family which included Dionne, Isak, Carmen, Jon, Chelise, and Julie.

Janie had a deep passion for photography, which led her to embark on many creative photo projects throughout her life. She was the official Filer Fair and Rodeo photographer for many years. She was also the Idaho 5th District High School Rodeo photographer for 20+ years, capturing unforgettable memories for rodeo participants and their families. She had a couple incidents with a horse and a bull that resulted in injuries during her time on the 5th District Rodeo circuit, but this didn’t stop her dedication to the kids and ensured that the spirit of rodeo was beautifully preserved through her lens.

Janie and Isidro owned Castle Gallery in Old Town, Twin Falls, where she proudly showcased her photography alongside the work of local artists. Her gallery became a beloved space for the community, celebrating creativity and the talents of those around her.

She enjoyed a variety of activities that brought her joy and fulfillment. She had a girl’s passion for shopping! She also frequently attended Twin Falls Arts Council events and services at the First Baptist Church. Her commitment to serving others and devotion to the Lord were hallmarks of her character. Her infectious laugh and kind heart touched everyone around her. Janie also cherished her family and took great pleasure in learning about her ancestry. In her spare time, she was a talented basket weaver and gifted sewer, leaving behind a legacy of love and creativity.

Isidro and Janie cherished their time together on trips to the Oregon and Washington coasts and to the Basque Country, where her husband is from. They created many memories together on these trips. One of the memories that the kids remember is from her birthday when she was in Spain. When Isidro asked her how she wanted to celebrate the day, she simply replied, “I want to have lunch in France.” Without hesitation, they made a dream come true that day.

Janie was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Jacobsen; her father, Harrison Mefford; and her sister, Lois Welburn.

Janie is survived by her husband, Isidro Goicoechea; and their children, Dionne Hill, Isak Mack, Carmen Goicoechea (Steve), Jon Goicoechea (Heather), Chelise Goicoechea (Kristin), and Julie Goicoechea; as well as their adored grandchildren, Ashley, Michelle, Cori, Triston, Felix, Madison, Dawson, Dominic, Hunter, Brandon, Amaryce, Samantha, Landen, Deanna, Amaia, Kutter, Hayden, and Jemma. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Hunter and Charlotte; her niece, Kaelynn Fletcher; nephew, Alan Welburn; and several cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Pastoor Event Center located at the Filer Fairgrounds to honor and remember Janie. All who knew and loved her are invited to join the family in celebrating a life well-lived.

Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on Janie’s memorial webpage at www.farmerfuneralchapel.com.
