Ignacio Huarte Maisterrena (82) of Bakersfield, California went to Heaven on March 17th, 2024 surrounded by his family.

Ignacio was born to Miguel Maisterrena Ozta and Feliciana Ugarte Sarrea (wife Maisterrena) in Ziga, Spain on August 16th, 1941in his family home.

Ignacio is survived by Essa Hall, his life partner. His daughter Feliciana (Michael) Theiss and his granddaughter, Brianna Feliciana Theiss.

Adopted daughter, Cleo Buttner and her children, Joaquin and Jessica Trunnel. Bonus daughters Sarah Kopping, Keri Spain, Julie Aranda and bonus granddaughter Emilee Aranda.

At the age of 19 Ignacio came to the U.S. on a sheep herding contract to California. He did this for 6 years. Later he started a landscaping business, which he maintained until he retired. He enjoyed gardening, trout fishing in the mountains and spending his time with his Basque friends and family .He was an amazing Aita and Aitatxi. He was endearing and jovial, especially when he lit up the room with his smile.

Feliciana and Michael Theiss, along with their daughter Brianna will be hosting a funeral service on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 10.00a.m. Saint Francis Roman Catholic Church 900 H Street, Bakersfield, California, lunch to follow at 11:30a.m. at the Wool Growers Restaurant 620 East 19th Street, Bakersfield, California.
