It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Yraceburu, 89 years old. He passed away at home on March 11, 2023.
Don was born in Fresno, California on August 13, 1933, to the late Joseph Yraceburu and Josephine Arriet. He was one of eight siblings. Don graduated from Central High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. After his discharge, he worked on the family farms in Five Points and Riverdale areas with his brothers Richard and Joe.
Don loved being a farmer. Alfalfa, cotton, and tomatoes were his primary crops. His passions in life were hunting, fishing, watching his kids play sports, bowling, and playing cards.
Don was proud of his Basque heritage. For years he helped with cutting and barbequing the lamb for the annual Fresno Basque picnics.
Don is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Mary; three daughters, Lisa (Mark) Derrigo, Christina Bourdon, Laura (Michael) Lee; son David Yraceburu; brothers Joe and Raymond Yraceburu; sisters Gerry Argain and Laura Mitchell; and eight grandchildren including Ashley Derrigo, Tony Derrigo and wife Jackie, Nicole Bourdon, Patrick and Austin Lee, Allicia Yraceburu, Adia Vara, Gianna Papagni; and great-grandson, Logan Derrigo.
A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church on Friday, April 28th at 10:00 a.m. The family wants to thank all the Hinds Hospice devoted nurses, especially Mark Fortwengler, for their kindness and love.
