Charles Glen Bonomo died peacefully in the comfort of his own home due to COPD and Covid on December 26, 2023.
Chuck was born on May 4, 1936 in Price, Utah to his Italian father, Fred Bonomo, and his Basque mother, Adele Mentaberry Nelson. His birth was followed by the arrival of his only sibling, a sister, Marie Lynn.
Chuck married Madeline Briest, a union which endured for 65 years. They were the parents to four children: Catherine, Elaina, Phil and Sonny.
Throughout his life, Chuck's occupational and personal activities revolved around trucks, cars and motorcycles. His happiest working years were spent alongside his son, Phil, from 1978 to 1999 where they did automotive body and paint in conjunction with many personal projects. He taught his sons well; both followed the path of automotive restoration. Work aside, countless enjoyable hours were also spent with Phil and Sonny in the dirt on two-wheeled machines. When remembering Chuck, think: fishing, sailing, dune buggies, dirt biking, Harleys, stain glass, metal working, NASCAR, stock cars, hot rods, the Heber cabin, bagna cauda and hanging out in the garage.
He is survived by his wife, Madeline; sister, Marie Lynn Gunderson; children, Dr. Catherine Bonomo, Elaina Defa, Phil (Christy) Bonomo and Sonny (Lindsay) Bonomo; grandchildren, Charlie (Ashley), Gianni (Jessica), Nick, Austin (Cortnie), Jenica (Kash), Jade (Sean), Quinton and Koby; great-grandchildren, Mercedes (Ernicio), Denali, Jazmin, Autumn, Zola, Ava, Dominic, Nora, Hazel, Ronnie, Gia, Paxton, Penn, Palmer, Rexlee and lastly; great-great grandchildren, Amaya, Junior, Nova and Jazz.
Chuck is preceded in death by his grandparents: Carlo and Maggie (Corigliano) Bonomo, John Mentaberry, Marie Cherbero Mentaberry Nelson and Glen Nelson along with his parents Fred and Adele Bonomo and sons-in-law Mike Cordell and Rick Defa.
Chuck's wishes were to be cremated. The Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic church in Price, Utah at a later date in the spring.
May our feisty car/motorcycle/mountain loving "pops" rest in peace.
"Rispose in Pace." Goien Bego.
