Ben W. Allustiarte, 93, passed away on Saturday, October 28th in Modesto.
He was a born in Patterson and moved to Modesto in 1962. He graduated from Patterson High School, Class of 42. After high school Ben served in the Army in World War II with the 89th Infantry Division under General Patton, riding on the 4th and 11th armored division tanks. His numerous military honors include a Silver Star for gallantry in action, two Bronze Stars, and the Purple Heart.
Post-war, Ben was a cattle and sheep rancher. He ranched in the Del Puerto Canyon for many years before moving to Modesto. He loved baseball and attending the games of his favorite team the Oakland As.
Ben is preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio and Atanasia Allustiarte of Patterson (originally from the Basque region of Spain), his brother, Steve, his sister, Lucy, his wife, Linda, and son, Benjamin. He is survived by his son, Greg Allustiarte (Gayle) of Vacaville; daughter, Marianne Pack of Patterson; granddaughter, Emily Pack (David), and great grandsons Elliott and Gregory of Patterson. He is also survived by his brother, Raymond and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 3, from 5:00-7:30 pm at Salas Bros. Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday November 4, 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church in Patterson. Burial to follow at Patterson District Cemetery. Contributions may be made to: Father Connors Endowment Trust Fund Post Office Box 1174, Patterson, CA 9536 or charity of choice.
