Phil Archibeque, activo y estimado mimebro de la Euskal Etxea de Utah ha escrito en las redes sociales:

With a heavy heart I announce that COVID 19 took my mother’s life this morning, January 1 at 4:47 am. Mary was born Maria Crotilde Gallegos, March 17, 1935 in Cebolla, Northern New Mexico.

Mary reared her children in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am number 3 of 6 and I’m proud to be the rotten little trouble maker that drove my siblings crazy! Mary was always pleasant and fun to be around with her quick humor. Anyone that met my mother knew that she was steadfast in her faith and practiced a ministry all of her adult life. Years of assistance to Latin women teaching them English brought many families to a faith led life. My friends knew if Mary cornered you, you were in for an earful!

Mary fought a 5 year battle with dementia.

During the last 11 months we were restricted to visits between glass. The hardest part is that we couldn’t hug her, kiss her and give her the contact love she so deserved and we all needed. My advice, as you’ve heard plentiful, please visit your loved ones safely and let them know how much you love them. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed.
