It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria Dolores Goyenechea Hyatt who left us unexpectedly on February 25, 2023. Dolores is survived by her grieving husband of 57 years, George, son Jason and daughter Courtney, and last surviving sibling Raymond.

Dolores was predeceased by her parents Raimundo and Julia Goyenechea, an older brother also named Raymond, and sisters Rosie and Juli.

She was born in Marysville and graduated from Notre Dame High School. Dolores met and married George there and later moved to Modesto in 1972 where she raised her family. She was a joyful loving person who lived a very full life. As a young girl she moved to Spain with her parents and younger brother Raymond and lived for a short while in the small and picturesque Basque town depicted by Picasso's famous painting of Gernika in northern Spain. Eventually, she moved back to Marysville and later enjoyed traveling abroad with her husband and made many trips back to Europe and other parts of the world as far away as Fiji and Hong Kong.

Dolores had a sophistication for books and music. She loved classical music, Frank Sinatra, Rod Stewart, Neil Diamond, and even rapper Pitbull. Dolores enjoyed reading the WSJ every morning, and if the paper was missing or wet we were sure to hear about it from her. Mom was a kind, intelligent, and gentle soul who will be dearly missed on this earth.

Private services will be held in Modesto later in March. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to National Shrine of St. Jude Clarentian Missionaries, 205 W. Monroe St. Box 8531, Chicago, IL 6068.
