Julie taught catechism and volunteered as a yard supervisor at Our Lady of Fatima School. Maurice and Julie were founding members of the Los Banos Basque Club and she also belonged to the Bo Peep's.

Julie enjoyed reading, gardening, dancing, and playing Mus, a popular Basque card game. She loved to travel and looked forward to annual summer vacations, trips to France, and winter getaways to Florida.

Julie was strong of faith, which carried her through 96 years of life with a positive and resilient attitude. She was an icon in her community and an Amatchi to many.

Julie was preceded in death by her husband Maurice Etcheverry, brother Jean Leon Incaurgarat, and granddaughter Elyse Etcheverry. She is survived by her children, Grace & Hugo Sousa, Renée & Robert Freitas, Michelle & Charles Cozzo, and Maurice & Carol Etcheverry.
