Jolenda Marie Barrutia, 48, of Butte passed away on September 16, 2023, at St. Patrick Hospital. She was born on December 16, 1974, in Jerome, Idaho to Javier and Glenda Barrutia.

She attended Shoshone High School. Remarkably, at the age of 17, Jolenda embarked on an independent journey. She rented her own apartment, diligently managed all her bills, and in doing so, showcased her intelligence, hard work, and maturity beyond her years. Her pride in her Basque heritage was also evident through her active participation in the Basque Picnic, where she celebrated her roots with fervor, instilling in her loved ones a profound appreciation for their cultural heritage.

Throughout her high school years, Jolenda embodied a spirit of dedication and achievement that left an indelible mark on those who knew her. She was a devoted member of her school's FFA chapter, where her passion for agriculture thrived, earning her numerous awards and accolades throughout her academic career. Notably, she was nominated to be the mascot of the Shoshone Indians, a role she embraced with pride and enthusiasm, representing her school at games with infectious energy.

Jolenda's innate leadership qualities shone through as she was voted into the inaugural year of the Natural Helpers program at her school, reflecting both her popularity and her genuine desire to support others. She possessed a unique ability to bridge divides and form lasting friendships with individuals from all walks of life, a testament to her warm and welcoming nature. Her youth was a tapestry of achievements, friendships, and accomplishments that laid the foundation for the remarkable person she became—a person who left an enduring legacy of dedication, intelligence, and love.

On April 11, 2000, Jolenda married Joseph O'Rorke in Reno, Nevada. As Jolenda transitioned into adulthood, she became a devoted wife and mother of two, her life a testament to the profound love and care she bestowed upon her family. Her journey led her to Butte, MT in 2008, where she first took on the role of a dedicated bakery manager and later a skilled florist. Her passion for nurturing life extended beyond the confines of her home, as she poured her heart into gardening, cultivating vibrant flowers, and meticulously maintaining her lush lawn, which became a source of pride and beauty for all to admire.

Jolenda was also an adventurer at heart, finding solace and joy in the great outdoors. She cherished moments spent camping under the vast Montana skies and casting her fishing line into serene waters. Through these experiences, she created lasting memories with her loved ones, teaching them the beauty of nature and the importance of cherishing every moment together.
