(Mountain Home, Idaho 08-05-1928 - Boise, Idaho 11-14-2016)
Amelia Cristobal Lothrop passed away peacefully at her home in Boise, Idaho on November 14, 2016, at the age of 88.
She was born August 5, 1928 in Mountain Home, Idaho to Basque immigrants John and Louisa Cristobal. She graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1946 where she excelled in athletics and cheerleading. After high school she worked at the Mountain Home Air Force Base, and later attended Boise Beauty College.
In 1951 she married Joe Lothrop. They had four children whom she adored.
After moving to Lewiston, Idaho in 1962 she began her career as a deputy clerk at the Nez Perce County Clerk's Office. She loved her life in Lewiston but once her children migrated to Boise, she picked up her roots and followed them. Once in Boise she continued her career as a legal secretary managing the Ada County Public Defender's Office until her retirement in 1993.
Her love of sports continued throughout her life as the Number One Fan for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There are so many adjectives to describe our Mom, it is difficult to express them all; however, her kindness and love touched so many lives. When you met Mom, she made you feel like family, and she loved her family fiercely. A light has gone out for all of us.
Waiting for Amelia to join them in heaven are her parents, her sisters Evelyn Gisler and Lola Moore, many dear relatives and her beloved grandson John Lothrop.
Amelia is survived by her four children, Sharon (George) Hammon, Joe (Arleen) Lothrop, Louisa (Mark) Pingree, and Robert (Sonia) Lothrop. Her greatest joy in life came from her ten grandchildren (Nick and Scott Hammon; Ryne, Jessica, Joey and John Lothrop; Micky and Anna Pingree; Nate and Jake Lothrop) and her ten great-grandchildren. Amelia will also be greatly missed by her sister Joanna Tate and brother John Cristobal, as well as her many nieces and nephews. We would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Michael Maier, Nurse Julie Crawford and Horizon Hospice.
Please join us for the celebration of our Mom's life at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 7960 Northview, Boise, Idaho on Monday, November 28, for a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at St. Mark's Donahue Hall, at which time you are welcome to share your memories.
