"Regresa - Asko Maite Zaitut" (Come back - I love you so much), in both Spanish and the Basque language, is the title of this Mexican movie, a romantic comedy that tells the story of a woman (Mexican actress Blanca Soto) that after a hipnotic session thinks she is a princess of the Kingdom of Navarre and starts speaking just in Basque, in Mexico. Organized by Eusko Kultur Etxea (Basque Cultural Center) and Ekin Euskal Dantzari Taldea (Ekin Basque Dance Group) of Buenos Aires, the first Jauzi Eguna (Day dedicated to Basque dances) took place at the Basque facilities of Mexico 1880 in Buenos Aires last Aug. 22nd, 2009. The iniciative was directed by Aitor Alava and live music was provided by Joxe and Janine. They enjoyed playing and dancing polkak, mutxikoak, jauziak and other dances (video by Cris Cordara).08/12/2009

'Hegoak' also called 'Txoriak txori' is a beautiful song that belongs to the Basque repertoire of many people and also Basque and non Basque choirs all over the world. It has lyrics written by poet Joxanton Artze and music by Mikel Laboa: Hegoak ebaki banizkion/If I had cut its wings, Nerea izango zen/it would have been mine, Ez zuen alde egingo/it would not have scaped, Baina honela/Baina that way, Ez zen gehiago txoria izango/it would not habe anymore a bird, Eta nik/and me..., Txoria nuen maite/it's the bird what I loved. Nancy Zubiri is a well known Basque American author and journalist, editor of 'Euskal Kazeta', a new project that works to pay a contribution to the informative world of the Basques in America. In this video, she takes us to the 2009 Kern County Basque Festival in Bakersfield, California that just took place May 23rd and 24th, offering to those that never went to one a good resume of what a Basque festival looks like in the US. If you are in the Basque Country in June 5th or 6th, 2009 don't hesitate and go to Arretxinaga, in Markina-Xemein, Bizkaia. Linking past and future, music, images and gastronomy, the 8th edition of the Hiru Harri (Three Rocks) audiovisual festival will take place mixing Basque elements in this singular space where three good size rocks stand in the interior of an extraordinary and singular old chapel. Mexican born Basque chef Pantxo Bedialauneta will be in charge of the pintxoak, music will be provided by Prefosta and the Unanue chamber choir, and Mikel Alonso and Yolanda Eizagirre, two well known Basque artists, will sign the images.
