Born in Gernika (& raised in Muxika, cause his family lost everything in the bombing of the village) Iñaki Cenicacelaya opened this restaurant in 1983. This way he recovered one of the historical big Basque names of New York (as Jai-Alai was the name of the restaurant and general meeting-point for many Basques that Valentin Aguirre, one of the founders in 1913 of the New York Basque Club, opened in Manhattan). It's a nice restaurant, good food, with specialties in Basque coastal cuisine. The Jai Alai is located at the Western end of Blackwell Street in downtown Dover; as you travel West you will see the sign on your right as your cross Prospect Street.
