Members of the Basque Community and friends of the Basque language and the Basques took part last Sunday in the Londoner version of Herri Urrats, the annual feast to support the Basque language schools in Iparralde, the Northern or French side of the Basque Country. As the original call does walking around the Senpere Lake, the English version organized it around the lake of Victoria Park in a family friendly festival that finished explaining to the participants the history and sense of this recreative initiative to help and support the important work the 'ikastolak' or Basque language schools make in this portion of the Basque Country where Basque is not an oficially recognized language. But London wasn´t the only place where Basques outside the country celebrated Herri Urrats. The Iparralde Basque Center of Buenos Aires, in Argentina, also did it, last Saturday, and the Basque Center of Paris too (photo London BC)
