Buenos Aires, Argentina. “Zirimiri” is a project that came about during quarantine, a context in which art, creativity patience for processes emerged….” Estefania “Chicho” Abasolo explained the face and soul of the enterprise.  A reference of the Euskaldunak Denak Bat Basque Club in Arrecifes and of Euskaltzaleak in Buenos Aires, the Argentine dantzari has been working on ceramics for some time, creating “useful objects that can be used every day at home, as well as replacing plastics with clay.”

But the project has another edge: share and keep the Basque memory and identity alive. That is why the creations of Zirimiri include elements of the work of Picasso's “Guernica,” like the “lamp” (argia) and the “dove” (usoa); popular mythological symbols like lauburus and eguzki-lores; as well as oak leaves that represent the Tree of Gernika.  “In addition to capturing them, we also relay their meaning, and the story that motivates each of these symbols, Abasolo explains.

Zirimir provides items like mates, pots, milk jugs, ashtrays, cups, plates, soap dishes, bowls, and spoons.  It will also soon include flowerpots and signs with “Ongi Etorri.”

The complete catalog is available on social media where you can also ask questions and order.  Zirimiri online: Facebook Zirimiri Cerámica; Instagram, @zirimirizeramika
