The town of Macachin was the site of a dance workshop organized in collaboration with FEVA and aides from the Union Vasca in Bahia Blanca. The event was described by its organizers as being “very successful”. Basques in Macachin are eager to host Semana Nacional Vasco Argentina 2015 to be held October 26-November 1.
Macachin, Argentina. Dantzaris from Laprida, Trenque Lauquen and the local Gure Ametza dance group, participated in a dance workshop June 13 and 14 in Macachin. The invitation included the collaboration of FEVA with Manuel Irastorza and Romina Larrañaga representing the Union Vasca in Bahia Blanca and being and charge and teaching the classes.
Over the two days, the leaders taught some new dances as well as worked on perfecting some of the old ones. To complement the workshop, there were also talks on Basque culture, costumes, history, language and customs, as well as on popular Basque songs.
From the organizing club, directors of Gure Ametza, Antonela Veroli and Analia Mujica, were very satisfied with the get-together, “it didn’t only include visitors, but also 20 of our intermediate dancers, as well as some former dancers who were encouraged by the classes.” They also were very grateful to other dance groups and to FEVA for its collaboration, as well as to the instructors from Bahia Blanca who came to Macachin and to everyone who participated.
