Bilbao, Bizkaia. Antzinako, the local Basque and Navarrese Genealogy and Historical Association held its first Genealogy conference on January 24 and 25 in Bilbao. The event was very successful and more than 100 people attended the talks organized by Antzinako and Family Search. The goal of these talks was to inform people about genealogy and help anyone beginning to research their origins some hints, techniques and resources in order to do so.
On the first day, Juan Antonio Rodriguez Rodriguez from Family Search gave a talk entitled, “My Family. Stories that Unite Us.” The bulk of the presentations took place the next day beginning by that of Amagoia Guezuraga, president of Antzinako. The talk consisted in a presentation on research of immigration from Zamudio to America.
The final part of the conference included two other presentations. The first was by Jon Koldo Fernandez Garcia de Iturrospe who gave a presentation entitled, “A Blog on History and Genealogy, Why and What For?” The second presentation was done by Iñaki Odriozola who talked about “Search Tools on Family Search.”
Conference organizers recorded the presentations and streamed the last two talks live, that are now on YouTube for anyone interested in seeing them and learning something.
