We apologize for the confusion] Announced last June, on Friday, (8pm local time, or 2am on Saturday in the Basque Country) the "National Fellowship of the Arts" 2019 awards ceremony will take place in Washington DC with the presentation of the National Heritage Fellowship to Dan Ansotegui, along with another 8 awardees from all over the US.

Dan Ansotegui is from Boise, the capital of Idaho, and is now among the other 5 who have been honored in the state in the history of this award, the highest granted in the United States in the field of folk and popular culture. One of the other awardees was Jimmy Jausoro, one of Dan’s teachers and his inspiration, a Basque just like him.
At the national level, along Jimmy Jausoro and Dan Ansotegui are another four Basques who have also received this honor: In 2003, the award was presented to four Bertsolaris Jesus Arriada and Johnny Curutchet, from San Francisco, Jesus Goñi from Reno and Martin Goicoechea from Rock Springs, Wyoming.
The awards ceremony will take place on Friday, September 20th at 8pm (2am Saturday, in the Basque Country) at an event that will include performances by the awardees, and interviews that can be followed from home.
