Uztaritze, Lapurdi. The Euskal Kultura Erakundea has announced that its director, Pantxoa Etxegoin, and Basque writer, Itxaro Borda, will be in the Italian city of Modena this weekend. They have been invited by the BUK Book Fair. This fair is dedicated to small and medium-sized publishers which this year includes a special space dedicated to Basque.
Basque participation will begin tomorrow at 10am with a round table entitled, “Il testo infinito,” focused on communication and creation. Afterwards, Borda and Etxegoin will inaugurate a photo exhibit on the Northern Basque Country with photographer, Marie Etchegoien, also in attendance. Finally, they will present the prizes for the “Parole digitali V” contest, dedicated to youth creators where the best poem of 140 characters will be chosen.
Besides literature and photography, the fair will also include Basque music thanks to singer Anne Etchegoyen. In 2013, her album with the Aizkoa choir entitled, Les Voix Basques was the bestselling world music album in France, thanks to the success of the version of the mythic Txoria txori. On Saturday, they will perform this as well as other songs at a concert at the church of San Carlo.
