Writer Harkaitz Cano is currently in Holland where he has been participating, since last Tuesday in the 46th Poetry International Festival in Rotterdam. The event will conclude this Saturday and among other activities, Cano will share his poetry with a small group on the roof of the Municipal Theater in Rotterdam, as part of the “Rooftop Poetry” section.
Rotterdam, Holland. The Dutch city of Rotterdam is currently sprinkled with poetry, thanks to a handful of poets from several countries, including Basque Harkaitz Cano. The Zirmiri Press published his poetry collection Norbait dabil sute-eskaileran (There is someone in the fire escape), in Dutch, which has allowed readers in that country to enjoy his poetry in their own language.
The poetry festival in Rotterdam began last Tuesday and Cano participated in its inauguration along with other authors. Yesterday, he gave a poetry recital along with Lionel Foggarty from Australia, who defends the rights of aboriginal peoples through his work. This recital, as well as others, were streamed and can be seen online on the festival’s website.
Today, Cano will participate in a recital and on Saturday, the last day of the festival he will have three events: a talk about creation, a recital on the roof of the Rotterdam Theater, and his participation in the closing event which will also be streamed.
