Necochea, Argentina. The contest to choose the logo that will become the Brand of Semana Nacional Vasca 2016 (Basque Argentinian National Week 2016) was launched in December of last year. After the deadline had passed and after evaluating the submissions received, the evaluating committee decided that the submissions didn’t conform to the required criteria and declared the contest void. Nevertheless, the Euzko Etxea has opened a new call to participate, with the same rules and a new deadline on March 23. In the same way, the club also announced that submissions to the original contest are now available to their authors from the club’s secretary.
Contest Rules
-The goal of the contest is to design an image that will be used by the Basque club in Necochea in all of its activities, documentation, publicity material, clothing and anything else having to do with Semana Nacional Vasca that will take place in Necochea in 2016. The logo’s design must be of free creation that expresses the conservation values of identity, culture, sport and the Basque language in accordance with the national Basque week celebration and the motto “Semana Nacional Vasca Necochea 2016.”
-Reproductions will not be admitted, or works that show mottos or markings that may be construed as advertising.
-Works must be unpublished.
-The task consists of designing images that will be reproduce don cards, vouchers, clothing, stationery and brochures, created in any medium, either manually or digitally, without including photos in the design. Illustrations need to be printed at high resolution. Every author can present up to three designs.
-The size needs to be 9 x 6 cm. Up to four colors can be used. Monochrome printing should also be considered. The submission needs to be made on a CD in the following formats: psd at 300 dpi; Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw, either in a psd or tiff also at 300 dpi in a sealed envelope. The type of fonts used should also be included.
-Works should be mounted on a rigid support, they will not be inscribed except for the motto “Semana Naiconal Vasca Necochea 2016.” The back of each box should include the name of the contest, the title of the work and the pseudonym.
-Works will remain at the club’s secretary’s office (call 65 esq. 58), in a sealed envelope, within the designated time limits. The envelope will include the works with the pseudonym on the front and on the inside should include: name, address, DNI, phone, and email. -The works that do not comply with these criteria will not be judged or considered and will be disqualified.
- The organization is not responsible for losses or damage to the works for any reason, without prejudice will take the greatest care of them.
- The works will be returned to their authors in March, considering that the author has also included a self-addressed stamped envelope. After 90 days past the deadline, organizers will no longer be responsible for works presented.
- The winner will receive $4,000 (in pesos)
- The prize will be awarded to the winners during Semana Nacional Vasca, during the final lunch. Samples of the works will be exhibited during the event at the Basque club.
-The jury is comprised of members of the club’s board of directors and members in the art world invited to participate.
-The Euzko Etxea in Necochea will use the promotional material for the purposes of dissemination and disclosure as it deems appropriate of the winning work indefinitely, with the condition that the author’s name be cited.
-The single presentation of the works of the contest involves participants the knowledge and the acceptance of these rules. Any unforeseen situation will be resolved by the organizers whose decision shall be final.
- Deadline for submission is March 23, 2016, al works will be returned the week after the event and prizes will be awarded at the final lunch.
- General: The jury’s decision is final; prizes may be declared void if none of the submissions are found not pertinent for the purpose of the contest. The author of the winning submission will give up all rights of use of the work to the organizing entity, who reserves the right of publishing the work without recognizing the author, or other compensation, recognizing the intellectual rights of the project. The winner will promise to create original work, for its production. Each work will be registered with a number as proof of delivery to the participant. The authors of the winning work will be liable for claims of any nature that third parties could do with respect to its originality, likeness etc. of the proposed project. Any case not provided for this regulation will be resolved by the jury.
