This past February 8, over 20 people gathered at the Basque Museum in Boise to start an Ageda Deuna route around the Basque Block. “It was a very nice thing,” as Eneko Tuduri, intern at the Museum, told EuskalKultura.com. “Most of us were language students but singing they sounded like native speakers.”
Boise, Idaho, US. Eneko Tuduri (Donostia, 1990) celebrated Ageda Deuna in Boise, for the first time, this past first Monday in February, along with the Euskara students at the Basque Museum and Cultural Center. “It was a very nice thing, people approached us and joined us in the streets.”
The group got together at around 6:30pm but they didn't start the tour until half an hour later. “Most of them were language students but, singing, they sounded like native speakers.”
From the Museum they moved to the Basque Club and, from there, to Bar Gernika, were they sang in front of a group of people that cheered them at the end of the performance.
According to Itxaso Cayero, NABO Euskara coordinator and language teacher in Boise, “we made the best of the day by talking about the meaning of the songs and learning new vocabulary.” The students definitely enjoyed this very special class, that also included some food and drinks.
