Zokoa-Lekarotz. The pandemic forced the cancellation of last year’s edition, this year, after some initial doubts and strictly respecting health measures, and finally after introducing significant changes in the program, the program will now begin. This Friday, 120 participants between the ages of 16-17 will share the 2021 edition of EuskarAbentura. This time however, due to travel complications, there will not be any representatives from the Diaspora, except for Dylan Inglis who is serving as a monitor.
This year, EuskarAbentura won’t travel, however it will still maintain the essence of its activity and objectives. The program is divided into two batches of just under two weeks each, in a camping format: the first will be in Zokoa (Lapurdi) and Lekarotz (Navarre), and the second in Bidania-Goiatz (Gipuzkoa) and Aulestia (Bizkaia). It will be continuously covered online so those who wish will be able to follow the adventures and the day-to-day lives of these young Basque speakers through social media such as on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
For another year, the program allows participants to get better acquainted to different aspects of Basque culture, and will also include content on history, heritage, or geography through meetings, talks and workshops led by professionals from fields such as music, the scenic arts, Bertsolaritza, literature and sports. At the same time, autonomy and personal responsibility, civic values around equality, respect for nature and sustainable tourism will be addressed as indicated by organizers to our bulletin.
