Buenos Aires, Argentina. A new one has been added in the last few years to the most traditional services that Basque clubs tend to provide: trips to Euskal Herria. For many, organizing trips can be complicated. In Argentina, some Basque clubs and Basque initiatives attract travelers and provide packages with stay, itineraries and guided tours. The best of all, conceived from the point of view of someone wishing to get to know and discover the country that our ancestors came from.
From Arrecifes, the proposal comes from Mariana Dominé Irigoyen, reference of the Euskaldunak Denak Bat Basque Club, for the month of August. The tour is for 17 days that will travel through Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa, Nafarroa and Araba as well as towns and cities in Iparralde. The package includes airfare, half board, and admission to cultural and recreational attractions, guides, buses and hotel. It also include medical insurance as well as cancellation insurance. More information is available by writing mdomine2002@hotmail.com. Nearby clubs who may have a group interested may ask for a presentation.
The Itxaropen Basque Club in Saladillo is also offering a group trip arriving in Euskal Herria on August 30th and returning on September 14th. During the two weeks travelers will become acquainted with towns and cities on both sides of the Pyrenees as well as having the opportunity to attend typical festivals that take place during this time of year like San Inazio, rowing in Donostia, and festivities in Zarautz to name a few. This trip is by Bask in Motion, an agency with much experience in group travel with folks from the Diaspora. For more information email, itxaropena98@gmail.com.
Another invitation comes to us from the Guillermo Larregui Basque Club in Chacabuco, where Pablo Pavesa also has much experience in group travel. This trip is planned for the month of October and follows previous tours. Besides ten days in Euskal Herria with visits to Bilbao, Gernika, Bermeo, Donostia, Gasteiz, Lekunberri, Oñati, Hondarribia, Iruña-Pamplona and some scapes to Iparralde, this group will also spend some time in Greece. The first informative meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 23, at the clubhouse. More information by emailing cvchacabuco@yahoo.com.ar.
You don’t have to be a club member, or live in these cities to participate in any of the three proposals.
