Paris, France. Pariseko Eskual Etxea will become a festival of Basque and Catalan fellowship this weekend, thanks to the dance festival Orok Betan. Organized by the local dance group, Gazteria, this festival invites all to enjoy the culture through dance, pairing Basque dances with groups from other cultures.
This year the chosen country was Catalonia, and the organization invited the group l'Esbart Sant Martí, of Torrelles de Llobregat to participate. They will perform around 6 p.m., along with the Gazteria dancers. The performance will be complete with music from the Sanduzelaiko Gaiteroak and trikitilaris Itsaso and Irune. After the show, members and participating groups will enjoy a dinner at the euskal etxea.
Basque days in Bordeaux
On Sunday, the party will jump from Paris to Bordeaux, thanks to Basque Days organized by the Eskualdunen Biltzarra Basque club. Basque dance and song will also be featured during the event. The festivities will not take palce at the clubhouse, however, but rather in Grandignan.
Members of Bordeaux’s club will begin the day at the church in Grandignan, with mass, with the participation of the Alegeran choir. Following the group will move to the Salle de la Tannerie where the Biltzarra dance group will perform at noon. Afterwards, after an aperitif, dinner will be served, where a popular meal and entertainment will be enjoyed, including dances and songs by Bordeaux’s Bestalariak Basque choir.
