Donostia-San Sebastian. In Maitena’s photo we can see three txistularis and a danbolinero in the Moreno Plaza in La Plata with the cathedral in the background. We can also see Bixente and Maruxa Ibarguren. Bixente was born in Bergara, Gipuzkoa, and has been an active reference and collaborator in the Euzko Etxea Basque club in La Plata for more than fifty years.
Following is a slide show of all of the photos that were entered in the contest:
All are very beautiful and curious, but six in particular caught our attention. Good work, Cassy, Iñaki, Roberto, Pedro, Elisa and Alejandro!
[Boise dancers dancing the Ikurriña dantza. From Cassy Kelly. We like the framing and the movement of the Ikurriña]
[Iñaki Perurena at the first National Basque Week in Necochea Argentina in 1981. From Iñaki Agostini Zubillaga. This photo is “retro”, pretty and curious}
[A “Zortziko” to the sea. Roberto Awa Nari. A truly curious and original photo of a euskaltzale from the Amazon arriving in Bizkaia]
[Lifting the stone. Pedro de Aguirre. A photo that made us all smile]
[Bakery La Vasconia. Elisa Ortiz. The motto is great: Basque while being Mexican. Mexican while being Basque]
[Dancers in Argentina. Alejandro Lamayer. Beautiful photo, framed and composed of Basque symbols and colors]
And which were your favorites?
