Now you can get the answer instantly on your smartphone thanks to the Mitzuli app. Created by Mikel Artetxe, developer of the IXA Group (dedicated to automatic translation), Mitzuli is a free app for Android that converts your phone into an automatic translator.
Donostia-San Sebastian. A new app has been introduced to smartphones to facilitate translation of various languages. Created by Basque developer, Mikel Artetxe, Mitzuli allows for translating between 50 languages, with special attention being paid to minority languages like Basque, Galician, or Occitan for example.
The app is free and is available on Google Play. Once installed you can translate in various ways:
1.- By Text: you can write the word you want to translate and select the language you want to translate it into
2.- By Voice: simply say the word or phrase that you’d like to translate.
3.- By Photo: take a picture of a text or poster…the App will recognize the text and will translate it into the desired language.
Also, if you don’t know how to pronounce a word in another language, the app will read it to you with the correct pronunciation.
Besides Basque, Mitzuli includes Afrikaans, Aragonese, Asturian, Catalan, Croatian, Danish, Spanish, Esperanto, French, Galician, Hindi, Indonesian, English, Italian, Malay, Dutch, Occitan, Portuguese, Romanian, Swedish and Urdu. It also works offline, without an internet connection, with the same quality as online, maintaining full capacity including translating photos.
