Parana, Argentina. The Urrundik Basque Association in Parana has organized a concert series that will begin this Sunday, April 18th and run through the following two weekends.  The first installment of  “Autumn Afternoons at Urrundik” will include guitarist Hernando “Pico” Rubio, Guitar Workshop teacher at the Basque club and winner of various festivals at the provincial and national levels, such as the “Pre Cosquin” (2017), and the national Malambo Festival, Laborde (2020,2015), to mention a few.

The agenda for “Autumn Afternoons,” will continue on April 25th with the group Yuruma, directed by Oscar “Pulga” Giles.  Members of the group have performed along with Joseba Gotzon on the song Urrundik, created by the Bizkaian singer on Day of the Basque Diaspora 2020.  The last concert will take place on May 2^nd with a performance by Lorena Cura, a reference in local folklore.

The concerts will begin at 5pm on the clubhouse patio (address, España 430) with protocols in place and limited attendance.  Advance purchase of the tickets is suggested, which cost $200.  Reservations can be made via email urrundik@gigared.com.

Juan Carlos Borras, president of Urrundik told EuskalKultura.eus “all proceeds will be used to replace the items that were stolen from us in a theft we suffered last year.  Above all, the objective is to create a meeting pace, in safe conditions, after so many months of isolation and concern over COVID.”

Borras also announced that if the health protocols allow, the series might continue on more Sundays.  In the meantime, the Basque club continues its in person activities with dance, guitar and chess workshops.

Aware of the serious health situation in the country, the president of Urrundik confirms “while they can, they will keep moving forward”

On July 25th along with the city, the Euskadi Plaza will be re-inaugurated located in the Bajada de los Vascos, on the way from the Old Port to the Parana River.  On October 3^rd, they have scheduled a concert by Joseba Gotzon which will begin the singer from Portagalete’s latest tour of Argentina.
