Santiago, Chile. Urkullu continues his weeklong trip through the Southern Cone. On Sunday Semana Nacional Vasca Argentina 2018 concluded and did so with a small surprise to the nearly 1,000 attendees at the final meal. Nearing the end of the meal, the Lehendakari took out his txistu and drum and played “Ikusi mendizaleak,” followed by “Agur Jaunak,” that everyone sang and then gave him a standing ovation.
Many present were moved by this gesture that marked the climax of the event that gathered hundreds of young dantzaris accompanied by live music by local trikitilaris, dulzaineros, atabalaris, txistularis and xirularis who provided their talents, along with Lehendakari Urkullu who with this gesture also contributed his grain of sand.
Just afterwards, Urkullu and the delegation that he lead said goodbye to those present to get to the airport on their way to the next step of the trip, to Chile. Two full days await them in Chile with meetings with political and institutional representatives, executives and in the area of gender equality, as well as with the Basque community in Chile.
