The Euskaltegi is organizing a double activity about Euskera on June 9th, the nigh before the Human Chain event called for by the Gure Esko Dago movement in Euskal Herria.  At 2pm there will be a Mintzodromo that all Basque speakers are invited to, and especially Basque language students in Buenos Aires and area Basque clubs.  At 6pm there will be a Triki-Poteo, to the rhythm of trikis and panderos through the bars in San Telmo where those who wish, can have a drink including the popular kalimotxo.

Buenos Aires, Argentina. We asked the board of directors of Euskaltzaleak, “How does a Triki-poteo help spread Euskera?” and their answer was simple: “A Triki-poteo is part of the culture of Euskal Herria and the language goes hand in hand,” they responded.  “The idea of the Triki-poteo, the seventh that we have organized: we sing and dance in Euskera, and you can order in Basque.  As an activity it attracts a lot of Basque youth, and you hear more Basque being spoken here than at other activity," Carlos Bordagaray, member of the Euskaltegi explained to EuskalKultura.com.

This year, those gathered will arrive at the Triki-poteo already warmed up having participated in the Mintzodromo.  This is the first activity of this type that Euskaltzaleak has organized, “it is a continuation of the experience we had in December 2017 at Euzko Etxea in La Plata.”

In the words of Bordagaray, “last year we were invited by Euzko Etxea and the Mintzodromo was a really great experience. When it was time to say goodbye, we promised that we would host the next one.  Being a Mintzodromo organized by a club, although smaller than the one at Semana Vasca, maybe the activity will have a smaller reach, but anyway, we hope not only to welcome La Plata, who have already confirmed, but also other Basque students and teachers in the Buenos Aires surrounding area,” he added.

The Mintzodromo will begin at 2pm and once the groups are formed, depending on the number of attendees and their euskara level, each one will carry out activities coordinated by the hosting teachers.  The Mintzodromo will conclude at 5pm with all present sharing a snack.

The trikis, panderos and albokas will begin around 6pm, marking the beginning of the tour through the streets of San Telmo.  The first drink will be at Euskaltzaleak, and then the “koadrila” will move through the usual route down Estados Unidos and Defensa streets.  As part of the Triki-poteo and supporting the human chain called in the Basque Country by Gure Esku Dago on the 10th, those present are invited to be part of the chain and join in, at 7am, symbolically with the chain that will join the cities of Donostia, Bilbo, and Gasteiz in the Basque Country. After the route is concluded, everyone is invited to Euskaltzaleak for more pintxos, sandwiches and beverages.
