Necochea, Argentina. The choreographies that we see at these events are the result of a year of work and effort. Practice sessions become more intense because Semana Vasca is coming up and “and we have to deal with exhaustion because we have to practice until the dance goes as it should.” The dancers know very well what the preparations for a Semana Vasca are. Just as well as Marita knew for whom this week was always a challenge but also a good time.
After the flag ceremony and singing the national anthems of Argentina and Euskadi, the Saturday evening event opened with a tribute to Maria Julia Ercoreca where her friends remembered the dancer and director who passed away in August. After the tribute, twenty five dance groups took the stage to put on a phenomenal performance.
In recognition of the great effort put forth, EuskalKultura.com has also striven to present a photo of each participating group as a report of the evening.
