The event will take place in San Francisco de Bellocq on October 4th and 5th, with a program that will include touristic walks and a mus tournament, even a tortilla contest and Basque dance performances. Novelties this year will include a dance on Saturday night, and rural sports. Sponsored by the town of Tres Arroyos, “Between Land and Sea,” is organized by the institutions of San Francisco of Bellocq, the local Hiru Erreka Basque club and the tourism development group INTA Pampa Vasca.
Tres Arroyos, Argentina. Encouraged by last year’s successful event, the Hiru Erreka Basque club and the Pampa Vasca group once again invite all the Basque clubs who would like to attend to the Basque Gastronomic Festival “Between Land and Sea,” that will take place on the first weekend of October in San Francisco of Bellocq, a few kilometers from Tres Arroyos and the whaling city of Claromeco, 563 kilometers from the city of Buenos Aires.
At this the second edition of the festival, the program will include some activities on Saturday that promise to become classics, like horseback riding along the coast and the mus tournament, and some new things, like the Saturday night dance at the Club Juventud Agraria in Bellocq. Starting at 21:30 there will be food served for $25 for adults and kids 10 and under for free. On Sunday, there will be another Tortilla contest (see rules here) throughout the day guests will also be able to enjoy the various Basque cultural workshops, music and dance performances and rural sports exhibitions. In the same way, and in hopes that the participating institutions can raise money or at least cover expenses, organizers are considering the possibility of each Basque club having a stand to exhibit and sell Basque crafts. Among the proposals they are looking at a possible photo exhibition of Basque families linked to the rural life of the area. Anyone interested in participating should submit photos before September 19th between 10am-12pm and 16-19pm at the Hiru Erreka Basque club or at the Library in San Francisco of Bellocq two photos 20 x 30 cm and other of 15 x 21 cm that are representative along with a short family history – maximum half page, to be exhibited at the event.
Finally, it should be noted that Sunday’s activities will take palce at the School #22 in San Francisco of Bellocq and that admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids 10 and under.
