Durango, Bizkaia. Today and tomorrow (for many in Hegoalde, tomorrow is a holiday and so today is zubia or bridge) are the last two days of this special edition, the 55th of the Durango Basque Book and Album Fair, better known as the Durangoko Azoka (Durango Fair). This is the referential event each year, the main meeting point for the Basque Country audience with the country’s creators and their works, books, records, computer material, videos, films in Euskera or Basque themes.
Due to the pandemic, organizer Gerediaga Elkartea worked hard to gather programs that could be followed online, with in person activities and concerts streamed online, with videos made available later on. Providing interested people the possibility of making all their purchases online, although shipping (free for orders over 45 Euros) is only available domestically.
Among the products for sale there are some related to the Diaspora like "The Basque Exile" by Iker González Allende (Deusto University, 2016); "Euskal Herria in Patagonia: Florencio Basaldúa, a Basque in Argentina," by Kepa Altonaga (Pamiela, 2020) or the CD and book, "Juan Sebastian Elkano: First Trip Around the World" by Euskal Barrokoensemble / Enrike Solonís (Alia Vox, 2020).
Check out the website and you will surely find videos, live broadcasts, references to books, albums, etc. and material that interests you.
