Performer, Ainara LeGardon, media artists Jaime de los Rios and dancer Eneko Gil will have the opportunity to spend time in Wroclaw on an artistic residency thanks to the call, for the second year in a row, by DSS2016EU and the Etxepare Basque Institute. Their artistic proposals seek to unite Donostia and Wroclaw through sound, Twitter, dance and art.
Donostia-San Sebastian. According to the Etxepare Basque Institute, the initiative’s goal is to promote the mobility, dialogue between cultures and collaboration, and is open to various artistic disciplines – performing arts, music, literature, plastic arts, and audiovisual – as well as multidisciplinary proposals, always and when the projects are related to the goals of the European Cultural Capitals Wroclaw/Donostia 2016.
The three creators chosen this year presented their projects at a press conference yesterday. Musician Ainara LeGardon will gather the sounds of Donostia and Wroclaw to create a sound guide, that will be performed later, as well as gathering the experience in a text. Jaime de los Rios will create a digital bridge, collective and open to both cities based on the social medium, Twitter. Dancer Eneko Gil, will give body to the live and work of the writer, painter, and graphic artist, Schultz, in a fusion of traditional and contemporary dance.
Xabier Paya, Director of Culture for Donostia 2016 and Aizpea Goenaga, Director of the Etxepare Basque Institute, stressed the importance of these trips to open new horizons for Basque creation like that already occurring with the artists who participated in last year’s program.
In addition, this year’s artists, along with those who participated last year, Matxalen de Pedro, Maialen Sarasua and Goiatz Labandibar, will participate in the BASK Festival in Wroclaw organized by the Cultural Capital Wroclaw 2016 with the support of the Hazitegiak Program from Donostia 2016 in July.
