San Francisco, California, USA. The Basque Cultural Center (Gure Euskal Etxea) in San Francisco is getting ready for its traditional Axoa Lunch next week. Axoa is a traditional dish in Iparralde, said to originate in the area of Ezpeleta, and includes veal, peppers from Ezpeleta and onion. Due to the pandemic this year it will be prepared in the kitchens of the Center to take away and consume at home. The schedule for pickup next Sunday is from 11:30am-1:00pm.
Along with the axoa (served with rice and vegetables), the menu includes soup, Basque style Salmon cakes, salad, cheese and dark chocolate mousse. The price of the meal is $40 or $15 for children under 12 (soup, chicken and dessert). You can also order items a la carte including soup, gateaux Basque, or wine. To RSVP email Yvette Mindeguia (ymindeguia@gmail.com) or purchase your tickets online.
Don’t forget to respect the schedule and deadlines. Only meals that have been paid in advance will be served.
Remember too that participating in this event, besides enjoying wonderful food, is also helping the Center.
