Sydney, Australia. After the establishment being closed due to the Coronavirus, the Gure Txoko Basque Club in Sydney opened its doors again last Sunday for its popular food service open to the public. The cold weather with temperatures only reaching 14 degrees centigrade, as well as the fear and precaution generated by the pandemic resulted in only 32 people gathering out of 40 reservations.
Basques are always among those attending, although the popularity of the gastronomic offerings that the Gure Txoko prepares every Sunday at noon is generating a whole group of non-Basque Australian fans who come attracted by both by word of mouth as well as the good reviews in the media. The press presents the Basque club as an undiscovered gem that serves excellent Basque-style food, in a different and attractive option in its surroundings.
The success of last Sunday was thanks to the work done in the kitchen by Jon, Nekane, and Alvaro (zorionak eta eskerrik asko), who prepared a menu based on potatoes in green sauce, roast pork, and raspberry cheesecake. Yummmmm!
