In reality the club and NABO, in collaboration with the Etxepare Basque Institute, only require mastery of the Basque language, to which each applicant can then add his/her own curriculum.  Once chosen the individual will receive training applied to the specific job in Bakersfield, some two hours north of Los Angeles.

Bakersfield, CA.   Do you speak Basque?  Do you live near Bakersfield, or would you want to come to Bakersfield for work, or study, or just for a new experience like living as part of the Basque Diaspora, or living in California?

Then this offer is for you.  You won’t get rich, you’ll probably spend more than you’ll make, but it could be an interesting offer for many youth.  The important thing is that you speak Basque and that you are ready to learn and teach people who don’t have any idea about Basque, as well as others who speak it to some degree.  The goal is to promote curiosity, closeness and learning the language in a pleasant and attractive environment.

A big challenge?  Others have done it before. The Kern County Basque Club, NABO and the Etxepare Institute are betting on continuing to provide local people who are interested at the Basque club and the university as well, the possibility of receiving classes on the Basque language and culture.
