Barcelona, Catalunya. The Barcelona Basque club has begun a campaign via micro-patronage to support Zinemaldia, the Basque film festival that they organized every year. This film festival allows for a large selection of films done in the Basque Country to reach the Catalan capital, and is very well-received, by the Basque community as well as those from Barcelona. Encouraged by this great reception, the organizers have decided to take it a step further and take it to the movie theaters.
The club has everything ready for this new edition and from its blog is revealing the names of the films that will be shown from February 13-22nd little by little. Among the first unveiled titles are two documentaris El Metodo Arrieta and Asier eta biok.
The club has also launched a micro-patronage campaign to raise funds to pay for the expense of showing the films in theaters.
The campaign is being done through the “Tot Suma,” platform and so anyone wishing to participate can do so through the Zinemaldia.cat website. Support can be provided in various ways, in amounts ranging from 10, 20, 30, to 100 Euros all the way to 1,000 Euros.
Each donation brings along with it some benefits for those who help from providing free entrance to all sessions, to a yearlong club membership, or for official sponsors that will include publicity, pamphlets and posters for those who contribute 1,000 Euros.
The goal is to raise 3,000 Euros that will be used towards expenses associated with theaters, as well as travel and lodging for invited directors and actors.
