The Santa Rosa Basque club in the capital city of the Argentine province of La Pampa, celebrated another birthday and did so remembering its History but also by looking to the future. At a lunch that gathered 50 people, members of the Zelaiko Euskal Etxea planted a Calden tree, typical of the area, and presented its Children’s choir that is formed by club members’ grandchildren.
Santa Rosa, Argentina. The Basque club in the Pampa commemorated another anniversary of its founding with lunch for members and Friends. As part of the event, guests could see the work done on the clubhouse first hand, the newly painted assembly hall and the building’s façade that were also inaugurated at the event. Also as part of the program, the board of directors planted a young Calden tree on the clubhouse grounds. “This tree will from now on accompany the sapling of the Tree of Gernika that is in the garden in front of our clubhouse,” club sources said.
And without a doubt, one of the most emotional moments of the event was the presentation of the Children’s Choir, grandchildren of the club’s members, who were accompanied on the guitar by Mariángeles Sarasola. They sang a children’s song in Basque. To close the lunch, Angel Baraybar and Sergio Lino, president and secretary of the club respectively, informed members on upcoming activities, including a lunch that will take place in November. They also asked everyone to raise their glass in honor of the club’s 22nd Anniversary.
