Rosario, Argentina. Following the successful model put into place during the previous four years, a new group of Basque students began their training process last January, to become teachers and promoters of the language in various countries in the American Southern cone. The project lasts four years during which participants commit to completing two requirements related to teaching: on the one hand, to complete all homework assignments though on-line learning and the other is to attend two face-to-face meetings a year.
Students who began in January (summer Barnetegi) on the 2013-2016 plan in San Nicolas, Argentina begun the distance learning program in March, completing weekly assignments that are monitored from the Basque Country. In July they will attend the winter Barnetegi that will take place during winter break on July 20-27, at the Zazpirak Bat Basque club in Rosario, Santa Fe.
As explained to EuskalKultura.com by the organizers, this next face-to-face meeting will once again gather nearly 30 students from Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay whose priority will be to systematize the content learned on the on-line course and reinforce oral communication practice.
The course will begin on July 20 in the morning and will conclude at noon on the 27th. Classes will take place in the morning from 9-11 and then 11:30-1:00pm and then in the afternoon from 6-7pm and 7:30-9pm at the Basque club. Students will be lodged at the Hotel Imperio (calle Urquiza 1264). Participants can check into the hotel as of Saturday the 20th at 10am.
