Carmen de Patagones, Argentina. Today Tuesday, July 1st, Basque communities from Viedma (province of Rio Negro) and Carmen de Patagones (province of Buenos Aires) gather at the Basque club and invite folks to come “take a stroll through the remodel.” This event is for members and friends of the club and hopes not only to inform them on world done, but also to engage the community through contributions so that the work can be completed by year’s end.
As club president, Maria del Carmen Elzaurdia, told EuskalKultura.com, “the goal of the visit is for everyone to see what has been accomplished to date, the floors and walls, as well as in the reconstruction of the bathrooms, as well as to encourage people to participate and commit in order to continue with what else is needed, above all, finishing the kitchen and giving it more of a baserri façade. For this, we need strategic input from our members,” Elzaurdia explained who is hoping to inaugurate the venue at the end of the year.
The recently elected president also explained that the progress has also been recorded and will be screened for folks to appreciate progress made while enjoying “mate and cookies” and ideas and suggestions. Anyone interested can come by Alberdi 169 in Viedma, at 5pm.
Regarding upcoming activities Beti Aurrera Aberri Etxea’s president said that the San Fermin celebration will include mass with participation of the choir directed by Professor Alberdi and that San Ignacio is being organized also with mass followed by a dance performance in the plaza and then lunch.
