Paris, France. The Basque language and culture lecturer at the Sorbonne University III, Miren Ibarluzea, will begin a series of conferences on Euskera today. The event will include the participation of researchers and Basque experts as well as a documentary.
Today, April 3rd, at 17:30 the following talks will be given: Udane Atutxa will talk about “Literacy and Basque Instruction from 1975-2010: Evolution and Difficulties,” followed by Eneko Zuloaga who will give the talk entitled, “Notes for the History of Basque to the North of the Bidasoa.”
On April 4th, the documentary The Origins of Basque, a European Enigma directed by writer and journalist, Hasier Etxeberria (subtitled in French) will be shown. This work includes testimonies of 15 linguists and international experts among which are Lyle Campbell, Daniel Creissels, Ricardo Gomez, Joaquin Gorrotxaegi, Javier de Hoz and Joseba Lakarra, who try to shed light on the mystery of the Basque language.
There will be a debate at the end of the film with Basque Country University professor Ivan Igartua via videoconference.
