Reno, NV, USA. A conference entitled, Visions of a Basque American Westerner: International Conference on the Writings of Frank Bergon,” will take place on March13-14, Wednesday and Thursday, at the Leonard Faculty & Graduate Reading Room in the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center on the UNR campus. The event is co-organized by the University of Nevada, Reno’s William A. Douglass Center for Basque Studies and the Jon Bilbao Basque Library .
The conference includes presentations by ten writers and experts from the US as well as the Basque Country who will debate and reflect on the works of Frank Bergon who writes about Basque themes. Leading up to the Conference on March 11-12, today and tomorrow, there will be two book presentations by author, musician and professor David Romtvedt, who comes from Buffalo, Wyoming. Romtvedt will present two of his titles, Zelestina Urza (today) and Buffalotarrak (tomorrow), and will also delight the audience with his talents as a dedicated trikitilari and Basque musician, accompanied by his daughter Caitlin Belem Romtvedt, also a talented singer and player.
