Pamplona, Navarre. The University of Navarre will host a meeting focused on the notable emigration from Navarre to America on October 14th. The event was organized by the Chair of Basque Language and Culture thee, in collaboration with other universities and centers – the University of Navarre, the University of the Basque Country, University of Pau and Pais de L’Adour (UPPA) and Mondragon University to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the book Amerikanuak. Basques in the New World, by William A. Douglass and Jon Bilbao.
Douglass will also be in attendance at the symposium where a panoramic and accessible view on emigration from Navarre to America will be discussion as Maria del Mar Larraza, the Chair of Basque Language and Culture told EuskalKultura.com. “The first part will include a roundtable where experiences and testimonies will be provided, while the second part will talk about the influence that Indians had on the art and architecture of Navarre,” she says.
