Bilbao, Bizkaia. Due to the pandemic caused by Covid-19, the 39th Otxarkoaga Children's Conference could not be held in 2020, and although a specific date has not yet been set for 2021, the local collective Txirula Kultur Taldea has organized a new edition of the “Otxarkoaga Tales without Borders Contest,” in hopes of “promoting literary creation around children's stories,” in both Basque and Spanish.
The call is aimed at participants of all ages, and the theme is open, although the jury will especially appreciate “those that have some relation with values like peace, tolerance, and gender equality, human rights and taking care of nature.”
Submissions can be sent directly to the Otxarkoaga Civil Center Avenida Pau Casals, 19, 48004 Bilbao, or by email to txirulakulturtaldea@gmail.com. Deadline to participate is February 15, 2021.
As for the awards, once the texts received have been evaluated, twenty-four copies of the edited book will be delivered to those selected who will be able to read their stories in the Kepa Enbeita Square in Otxarkoaga at part of the Children's Days, on a date to be confirmed.
