Concordia, Argentina. The city of Concordia in Entre Rios, celebrated the 26th edition of the Provincial Immigrant Festival last weekend. As every year, it was up to the Ibai’ko Izarra to represent Euskal Herria at the festival, and a task carried out successfully with dancing on stage and typical dishes at the food and culture stand. Among the dishes prepared by the sukaldaris were rice with seafood, and the classic txorizo in cider “which is anticipated every year by those that attend annually,” according the Basque club sources.
On the main festival stage, the txikis performed “Lantzeko Inauteria,” and the adults from Gazte Lurra performed “Eskalapoi” and “Durangoko Arkuak.” The show concluded with Basque dances like “Arin Arin” and Kalejira combining dancers of all ages.
Color was added to the festival thanks to the collaboration of the Beginning Band School “Timoteo Castañeda,” that accompanied the Basque community in the parade, which converted into a txaranga of local Basques performing traditional kalejiras like “La Vaca,” along with other Basque songs.
