Tandil, Argentina. The big party this Saturday in Tandil is to commemorate the 64th anniversary of the foundation of the Gure Etxea Basque club. Chronologically, the events of the day will begin at 10:30 at the clubhouse (Sarmiento 1079) with a cooking workshop co-organized with FEVA, the Federation of Basque Entities in Argentina.
The goal of the workshop is “to provide tools that allow the huge group that congregates at the club around a table, recipes that are easy to prepare for large numbers of people, adapted to the local taste, and that can become the mechanism to finance the Basque clubs.” The cooks from the Euzkal Etxea in San Nicolas’ gastronomic group that have a vast amount of experience are in charge of the workshop. To enroll, email FEVA (feva2000@fibertel.com.ar) by Thursday the 21st at 4pm.
It is recommended that two people from each club participate and all are asked to bring along a knife, cutting board, an apron and a towel. Participants need to be ready “to participate actively in the food preparation duties,” since the workshop will be “totally practical and participatory.” The menu that will be enjoyed on Saturday will end the workshop and will be composed of Chorizos in cider and garlic mousse; the main dish will be merluza in salsa verde, with caramelized pears and apples in chocolate for dessert.
FEVA is providing what is needed for the workshop, Gure Etxea is providing its faculties and everything necessary to cook, and so all travel expenses to Tandil will be the responsibility of each participant.
