Mexico City, Mexico. The Skalari and Rude Band combo came to the station in Mexico for the first time to perform two concerts as part of their “Rude Station Tour,” which has toured over most of Spain as well as in Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Czech Republic).
The new Skalari locomotive felt the palpable excitement before its first concert at a meet and greet at the Anden 69 on Friday November 17, where some of their fans gathered and the passion could be sensed for the upcoming concerts on Saturday and Sunday in Mexico City and Guadalajara-Jalisco
During 2013 and 2014 the train left at a slower pace, and made stops in countries like Chile, Argentina, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Peru. But it wasn’t until 2015 when the velocity picked up incorporating the Rude Band, resulting in the first sold out concerts. They sold out in places in Spain and Catalonia like Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona and Reus, the fruits of presenting the latest album “Rude Station,” an album that gave continuity to the Skalari project.
But what happened in Mexico two weeks ago marked a high point on the road. Two big concerts, mythic, that were sold out to a public that passionately followed each song, minute by minute, second by second.
At the Puebla hall, doors opened at 19:00 with hundreds of people waiting to be first in line hoping to not miss a second of the show. At 20:30 Skalari Rude Band came onstage to begin Sarrera VII-Rude Station amidst cries from the feverish public who tried to find a spot to dance to each hit as they were launched from the stage.
Eight musicians giving their all, and two hours of intense concert, with barely a break, only to count to 43 (Ayotzinapa) in the previous “Fire,” to applaude a new song like I will be Good with You, Levanta, Winnipeg, or That Night to recall other greats by Skalari Rude Klub, Jaia, or the mythic Only Live that closed the night, that also surprised with Ale, a song forgotten by some but that the Mexican audience indicated was their favorite, because Mexico is good at that too.
And if this happened in one of the most prestigious areas of Mexico City, as “Sala” is, the next day wasn’t any different at the Forum in Guadalajara-Jalisco. In a smaller venue than the day before but as with an equally intense audience that produced its first Sold Out concert at the venue ever, making musical history in the city.
Large audiences in Mexico, along with the large Rude Band, an affair that has just begun but will be continue for a long time apparently, the story concludes.
