Reno, NV, USA. Since its opening in 1929, it has been one of the Basque classics in Reno, managed in its latter years by the Zubillaga family from Esnazu, Aldude, Behe Nafarroa. Through the ups and downs of its service and management it has continued as one of the last Basque restaurants in the city. It was sold in July of 2017, to Dennis Banks who has now announced that after much renovation, it will reopen in May.
Banks told the local Reno Gazette Journal that he hopes to maintain the character and Basque style of the place, and continue to serve in the Basque family style of the west, with drinks available at the bar like the famous Picon Punch. He feels comfortable with it, “so why should I change it?” he told the paper.
The Santa Fe Basque Hotel is located at 235 North Lake Street in Reno, Nevada.
